Antique 19th Century Painted Chest of Drawers – Later Hand-Finished Mustard & Old White

Dimensions:
H 106 cm × W 93 cm × D 46 cm

Code 151

A beautifully characterful antique chest of drawers, completely transformed by hand in the French Mirror House workshop.

The chest has been finished in a heavily textured Old White base with an all-over hand-stencilled design in a muted, aged mustard, complemented by small soft brown floral details. The whole piece has then been carefully distressed and waxed to create a layered, timeworn finish that feels as though it has evolved naturally over many years.

The original age and character of the chest have deliberately been retained, including the wonderfully worn drawer sides, turned feet and slight imperfections that give the piece its individuality.

The mustard-painted knobs, feet and top edge tie the design together, while darker ageing around the drawer edges and corners adds depth without overpowering the pattern.

This is a unique, one-off piece of functional art, designed to bring warmth, texture and character to a bedroom, hallway or living space.

As with all genuinely older furniture, there are signs of age and previous use, which form part of its character rather than detract from it.

Condition
Solid and fully usable, with age-related marks, wear and irregularities consistent with an older piece of furniture. The decorative finish has been intentionally aged and distressed.
